Hannover/Bangalore. The latest McKinsey & Co. report, “Powering India: The Road to 2017”, predicts that India’s power demand will grow from its present level of 120 gigawatts to 300 gigawatts by 2017. And by 2020, renewables will make up 20 percent of its total energy mix. India’s government is already offering tax and depreciation concessions to attract the necessary foreign investment. All the more reason for the Energy INDIA trade fair, which runs from 10 to 13 December in Bangalore, to give pride of place to alternative energy sources. Put simply, the Indian market offers rich opportunities for foreign providers of alternative energy solutions and Energy INDIA is the perfect platform for tapping into this potential.

German biogas specialist EnviTec Biogas AG is one of the exhibitors at this year’s Energy INDIA. “Our joint venture in India has landed us our first contract from this rapidly growing country,” explains EnviTec Biogas CEO Olaf von Lehmden. EnviTec Biogas AG is the biogas partner in Green Planet Energy Pvt. Ltd., a consortium that has been awarded a government contract to build 30 megawatts of biogas electric generation capacity in Punjab, India’s largest agricultural state. The contract was awarded by Punjab’s state-owned energy provider PEDA (Punjab Energy Development Agency) and will be performed by EnviTec Biogas India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. Olaf von Lehmden: “We plan to develop and realize further biogas plants in India. We’re running a pavilion at the Energy INDIA show in order to raise our profile with potential investors.”

Energy INDIA takes place at the new Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC), which is considered India's most technically advanced events venue. The show will run alongside a number of other tradeshows at the BIEC: INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION INDIA - the International Trade Fair for Process and Production Automation and Industrial Building Automation; MDA INDIA - the International Trade Fair for Motion, Drive and Automation; and CeMAT INDIA – the International Trade Fair for Logistics. Staging multiple tradeshows under the one roof is a tried-and-tested format that offers trade visitors an opportunity to find out about all the latest automation themes in a cross-industry “one-stop shop”.
